Door Operation

Doors (general):
Doors are attached to the body by hinges. A door stay is mounted between the hinges. Door stays prevent a door from being opened too far. They also ensure that a door remains in the open position. Door locks allow the door to stay in the closed position. Door locks consist of:
-Door guide
-Lock
-Striker
By limiting the vertical movement of the door while driving, rattling and wear of the lock and striker are counteracted.

Door guide:
The door guide guides the door when closing, so that the lock easily engages with the striker. The lock and striker keep the door closed. The lock can be operated from both the inside and outside of the car. A door guide has several tasks:
-Guide the door when closing so that the locking mechanism falls into the striker
-Limit the vertical movement of the door while driving.

Striker:
When the door is closed, the lock engages with the striker. The construction of the lock and striker must meet the following requirements:
-The lock must always remain connected to the striker, even under severe deformation (e.g., in a collision)
-In the event of damage to the door and body, the door must still be able to open.

Locking:
The door can be opened from the outside with the exterior handle. Operating the exterior handle releases the lock. From the inside, the door is opened using an interior handle. The transmission from the interior handle to the lock is done via rods. The doors are secured with the locking button. The locking button can block the lock. The door can then no longer be opened with the exterior or interior handle.
