Hardtop:
A hardtop is a metal or plastic roof that can be placed on convertibles or off-road vehicles. Often, the roof is painted in the color of the car. A hardtop ensures that the convertible can also be driven in winter, as it provides the car with the same properties as a vehicle with a fixed roof. A fabric roof is not always warm and can be very noisy. The hardtop makes it almost identical to a “normal” car. When a hardtop roof is removed, it can be stored in, for example, the garage, after which the fabric top can be closed again.
The hardtop is a removable roof that can be mounted on an open car with the roof opened through fastening clips. When a hardtop is mounted, the convertible top is folded in the trunk. In more luxurious cars, a microswitch recognizes that the hardtop is mounted and blocks the convertible top’s close button.
