Internal combustion engines

Passenger cars have been fitted with combustion engines for decades. Petrol and diesel engines are still popular and will be used new in passenger and commercial vehicles until at least 2030. Electrification is increasing significantly, but will not completely replace the combustion engine in the short term. It is likely that people will continue to drive their (old) combustion engine cars for longer if the government increasingly forces car manufacturers to switch to “zero emissions” with new vehicles in order to achieve climate goals.
